The Siegel Cares team recent trip to Mississippi and Louisiana was an overwhelming success! The three of us began our journey in Alexandria, Baton Rouge and New Orleans with Mark and Susie finish the trip in Gautier and Jackson.  Hosting 5 community appreciation events feeding over 700 residents with the help of over 20 volunteers from the community and our wonderful team members. We were able to partner with over 15 local agencies to provide essential resources at our Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Jackson events. These resources included youth mentorship, job training programs and medical services and onsite testing for HIV/ STD’s.  Thanks to Susie’s coordination, the Jackson Fire Department brought out two firetrucks for the kids to tour and enjoy. To top it all off, the captain and firefighters joined the kids in jumping rope, creating memorable and joyful interactions. The team took a Bundt cake to met with Jackson Police Chief Wade and his command staff. Ironically, it was Chief Wade’s birthday the following day.

Another great highlight from the trip was the opening of Siegel Cares Shared Libraires at the New Orleans, Gautier and Jackson properties. Offering residents of all ages access to valuable reading materials. The immediate enthusiasm from children and parents alike demonstrated the positive impact these libraries will have on family bonding and children’s literacy skills.
